L'improvisation se produit au-delà des limites de l'instrumentation et des genres musicaux; c'est un voyage dans l'inconnu. Voici le principe directeur de cet atelier, offert aux instrumentistes créatifs qui cherchent à élargir leur perspective, à apprendre de nouvelles techniques et à échanger des idées avec leurs pairs. Peu importe la tradition ou le parcours de chaque participant, l'objectif est d'explorer ensemble ce qu'est l'improvisation, dans une approche ouverte qui s'inscrit dans une perspective contemporaine. L 'atelier abordera les sujets suivants: amélioration de l'interactivité, techniques d'écoute et improvisation sans idées prédéterminées.

Carl Ludwig Hübsch compte parmi les créateurs les plus innovants d’Allemagne dans le milieu de la composition liée à l’improvisation. Philip Zoubek est quant à lui l’un des pianistes les plus reconnus et originaux du même pays. En 2012, ils rencontrent le joueur de viole de gambe montréalais Pierre-Yves Martel. Ils se produisent depuis en trio.
Après avoir sorti leur premier album June 16th sur le label berlinois Schraum, ils donnent une série de concerts européens, dont deux enregistrés par la radio nationale autrichienne (ORF) et Radio-France. Leur deuxième album intitulé Drought sort à l’automne 2016, et donne lieu à une tournée de 17 dates à travers le Canada, la France, la Suisse, l’Allemagne et la Norvège. Otherwise, le troisième album du trio sera lancé sur le label suisse Insub Records en septembre 2018.

This is the guiding principle of this workshop, offered to creative instrumentalists who are looking to broaden their perspective, learn new techniques and engage in an open exchange of ideas with their peers. Intended for participants from any background or practice, the workshop intends to explore what improvisation is, using an open approach that reflects a contemporary perspective. The workshop will touch on the following topics: improving interactivity, extended listening, and improvising without a predetermined structure.

Carl Ludwig Hübsch is among Germany's most innovative creators in the field of improvisation-related composition, and Philip Zoubek is one of the country's most profiled and original piano players. In 2012, they met Montreal-based viola da gamba player Pierre-Yves Martel. The three have been performing as a trio ever since.
After releasing their first album June 16 on the Berlin-based label Schraum, they gave a series of European concerts, two of which were recorded by Austrian National Radio and Radio-France. Their second album Drought was released in the fall of 2016, spurring a 17-date tour across Canada, France, Switzerland, Germany and Norway. Otherwise, the trio’s third album, is scheduled for release on the Swiss label Insub Records in September of 2018.
